About me
“I do my best because I’m counting on you counting on me”
— Maya Angelou
Maryam Ehsani
I took my first yoga class in Newport Beach, California, in 1999. I remember thinking the teacher must think I’m a natural since I was a former gymnast. That was definitely not the case. He spent the better part of the class adjusting me because I had clearly never practiced yoga before.
I began taking classes regularly and exploring different styles of yoga. Back then, there were only a handful of studios to choose from, and I eventually found my way to Discover Yoga in Redmond, Washington, where I studied with Ellen Morrell. I enrolled in her 2000–2001 Viniyoga Teacher Training program, which laid the foundation for my understanding of yoga as a deeply personal practice.
After completing my training, I moved to Sun Valley, Idaho. At the time, I wasn't ready to teach. I wanted to experience yoga in real life to live it, breathe it, and truly understand it from the inside out. I spent years practicing, studying, and learning from incredible teachers who helped deepen my understanding and shape a practice uniquely my own.
In 2008, I returned to Seattle. I wasn’t done learning, so I enrolled in the YogaWorks Teacher Training program with Irene Alexander and Catherine Munro. After completing the training in 2011, I finally felt ready to begin teaching and sharing yoga through private instruction.
In 2017, I founded Studio-e, born from my wholehearted desire to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where people could experience yoga exactly as they are. My vision was simple: to create a place where any body could come to practice, explore, learn, and grow. A space where students could move at their own pace, develop a meaningful personal practice, and feel supported every step of the way.
I believe yoga offers profound physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits. More than poses, yoga teaches us how to navigate life with greater awareness, resilience, compassion, and connection. My teaching is rooted in the belief that yoga should be accessible, sustainable, and adaptable to the individual.
In 2023, I returned to Sun Valley, Idaho, where I currently teach yoga at Zenergy Health Club & Spa. I offer private sessions, group classes, workshops, retreats, and special events throughout Idaho and the Seattle area, as well as online offerings for students around the country.
Beginning in Summer 2026, I will serve as Lead Yoga Instructor at Alpine Flow Fitness, a new boutique fitness studio in the heart of Ketchum, Idaho. There, I will help shape the yoga program and cultivate a vibrant community centered on intentional movement, wellness, and connection.
Today, after more than twenty-five years of practice and study, I remain a lifelong student of yoga. Whether working one-on-one or in a group setting, my goal is simple: to help students feel more connected to themselves, more at home in their bodies, and more empowered in their lives.
Online classes and new video content will be available soon—stay tuned.
